Hello, everyone. Welcome to the Functional Yoga Medicine Show’s blog. The focus of today’s episode is on finding your purpose and how the work you do is key to living a successful life. Did you know that over the past few years, I’ve been working with a lot of hypnotherapists or doing a lot of metaphysical, quantum healing, and other woo wee stuff? I’m not sure, maybe 15 years, but I was in the closet for a long time with that.
I was secretly, deeply embarrassed about my interest in those things because I always felt compelled or pushed toward more of the yoga side, the ire Veda, the Kundalini, rising, all the energy stuff, the forces, the aura, and everything else. While my scientific-analytical thinking didn’t allow me to do so, I went ahead and did it anyhow.
Finding Joy by Serving Others
As a result, I’ve been leading the group I’ve been working with since yesterday. I had a session with my coach, which was a Reiki hypnotic session. We were discussing how, for as long as she’s been doing this, which is over 15 years, she’s been pretty left-wing. I’m also left-brained.
And she used to refute a lot of the things that her mother had molded her opinion on for her mother to be proud of what her daughter was doing. Then she had an epiphany and decided to take a different path, pursuing massage therapy, Reiki, and hypnotherapy.
So now she’s doing this, and she says one of the questions she asked me before she brought me into my self-exploration session was, “What is my mission in life?” because these are the questions she’d ask or help me explore with my subconscious or higher self.
She muttered something and smiled at me. Why not smile and say to everyone, “100%, this is the same answer I get.” And I asked, “What are you talking about?” I’m not going to inform you until after the session, she says. Well, after the session, to be precise. And she responded, without a doubt, because my goal in life was to help and elevate others, whether through my healing work, medical work, or whatever else I do, everyone wants to help others because we find joy when we’re of service to others.
Benefits Of Risk-Taking
We forget that this is our fundamental nature, our regular state of being. We become narcissistic when we are so indoctrinated domesticated by all of the world’s expectations. And the hierarchical rank of all the social systems into which we are trapped is central to our identity. That we’re always looking for significance and attempting to figure out where we fit in.
And, of course, we always want to follow the crowd and do what everyone else does, right? Without giving much thought to what is truly tugging and pulling, or what I’ve learned from yesterday’s experience and the last 15 years of self-exploration of these metaphysical experiences. And I’ll have many coaches, business coaches, and spiritual coaches assisting me with this is that I’m less embarrassed about exploring because the more I learn, the more I understand analytically, the more I’m willing to take risks.
I see that the miracles that shape the world, the miracles that lay beneath the surface, are far larger than what we can conceive, define, and truly understand, let alone actually touch and figure out, because our brain’s limitations prevent us from growing above and beyond.
The possibilities are why we remain stuck in our life and keep ourselves so little.
Because, after all, we may discuss the reptilian brain. We’re talking about three layers of the brain, right? The reptilian brain, the mammalian brain, and the prefrontal cortex are all present. Well, that’s what we’re telling you, and our brains are the ones who make decisions for us daily. Even if it isn’t benefitting us, the Trillium brain is always trying to keep us secure, keep it light and easy, and make it convenient and familiar.
Set Your Goals And Find Focus
So we’re stuck in this hamster wheel, which explains why humans are so skilled at being stuck in this hamster wheel and becoming fatigued year after year, rinse, and repeat. When it comes time to transition, many people have regrets about what they didn’t do rather than what they did, right? So I always say to myself, I’d rather be a failure and live my life to the fullest than do nothing and play it safe because I’m afraid of making a mistake.
I just want to encourage you to consider it because, once again, humans, like you and me, are motivated by a desire to serve. And if you’re reading this blog right now, you already know that you want to serve on a more profound level. You have no idea how we can only serve when we are full, yet you and I both know how much hype there is about self-care.
What is self-care? Is it self-love, self-worth, and self-confidence? All the things we’d be missing. And, I don’t know about you, but there are a lot of highly educated people out there. We have a huge chip on our shoulders, and we have such a severe lack of self-confidence and self-worth that we get busy and too ambitious to hide the truth or to disguise our lack of self-worth incompetence to feel better about ourselves.
If you’re being honest with yourself, you realize that there’s a lot of lack in every, every one of your sectors, and we become quite egotistical when we are or become full of doubt, lack confidence in our earning unstable trail. And that’s just how humans are made. And this is a universal fact about human nature. So, I believe that passion and life’s purpose are overrated.
Don’t Be Daunted By A Setback
Only when you’ve focused on fostering self-love and self-respect can you move on to serving others, because you’ll be doing so from a place of knowing who you are. It’s when you’re stretching yourself to help humanity and make things better for others, with a real interest in their betterment and expansion while serving yourself first, as an oxygen mask on an airplane, right?
You can’t keep giving and giving and giving if you don’t put it in on yourself, but we’re taught that if we practice self-care and self-love, we’ll turn into DeVos or be full of ourselves, but that’s not what I’m talking about. We must really delve into our bodily, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs and satisfy, or fill our cup, to the point where we may have that overflow and serve others.
And I believe that this is lacking in our holistic world of medical professionals, health and wellness professionals because there is so much pressure to be perfect and look the part that we lose sight of the bigger picture.
And so all I ask is that you guys be completely honest with yourselves. About what you want to get out of your work. Rather than trying to figure it all out analytically. Like finding a business plan and figuring out how to make money and all that. Because analyzing all of those things will keep you exactly where you are. So I’d like to extend your horizons in life as well. As a result of this program called Functional Yoga Medicine Certified Practioner.
Find Your Purpose
You’re limited by what you think, aren’t you? So, instead of being a second-rate version of someone else trying to fit in and be like everyone else. I want you to give yourself permission to be, to risk yourself, to be the first-rate version of yourself. Because, at the end of the day, as I work with more and more auto-immune patients. I’m finding that the lack of satisfaction, lack of freedom. And lack of joy are all things that we need to see financial security and independence.
All of the things I listed are necessary. And assisting others, raising others, and expanding others are why we’re all here in some way. And when your ego takes over your devotion to who you are. What you ought to be, and what you should be, we lose sight of the greater picture.
I’m sure you’ve had similar experiences, because for a long time. When I was serving my patients. I felt like there was a gap in the work that I was doing. And I felt like I was only pretending to serve them. And I had a feeling they could tell how dissatisfied I was with the work. I was doing it because it was just servicing because that’s what I’d been taught to do rather than actually. Truly helping them develop, grow, evolve, heal properly, and provide what they truly needed.
As a result, I encourage you to consider and challenge yourself to think beyond the physical realm. And when you start thinking about the unlimited possibilities. That is open to you without considering the constraints that you can run. Into or face that prevents you from achieving things, you’ll be amazed.
I truly believe you will discover the sweet spot for truly discovering your purpose. Freedom, and joy, and then, you know, your abundance will follow. As a result, that is where true happiness comes from. And please listen to my podcast it’s available on iTunes and Spotify, and wherever else they’re available.
